Brenda was thirteen years old and having a baby. She was jobless, just beginning her education, and no one in her house had a man. After her child’s birth, her frustrated mother tosses her out onto the cold and unfeeling streets. Along the way Brenda is met with opposition by unfeeling drug dealers, pedophiles, perverted teachers, crime, poverty, and a system that doesn’t care about her.
As she continues on in her journey she meets a series of people that teach her to care about herself and improve her child’s well - being. Although the journey is filled with pitfalls, Brenda is transformed from a little girl into a strong sista whose future is limitless.
The author is quoted as saying, “No one in literature cares about the black girl in the hood, nor do they write about them with any degree of love or understanding, and that includes black authors. This novel gives you all the love, insight, and understanding that is missing. Real talk.” Brenda’s Got a Baby is a fast paced, introspective look into the life of a teenage mother and rising above adversity. A must read.

This was my first read by Vincent and I must say he has a way of delivering the real. Brenda was another young girl lost that had to prove she could overcome any obstacle thrown her way. Her environment had her at a standstill and because of her mom's approach it didn't help much. Thank God for Mr. Steele and Sandra who stepped up and helped her realize she could be anything she wanted in life. Her friend Patrice needed a reality check because she was hurting herself more than the ones who were offering assistance. I'm glad Sandra was able to get through to both Amanda and Brenda before things got too hectic. Amanda's dad was an ass but his past teachings only made things more complicated. So many young girls experience the same things as Brenda without so much as someone even caring. I'm glad Brenda's eagerness to grow up didn't hinder her but instead with the right people it motivated her to push forward and become better than most expected. #KNLProduct details

BRENDA'S GOT A BABY URBAN REVOLUTION SERIES edition by VINCENT MORRIS GENERATION NEXT Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
A book meant to inspire. She shows you a glimpse into the teenage mind and shows how parents actions affect kids more than the words they speak. Inspiring is the word I would use the describe this book. Good job!
Excellent read....there are so many intelligent children that just need the right influence to change their mentality. Yes, she was 13 but someone cared & came into her life to turn it around. How often do we look the other way when we know what we are seeing isn't right?
It was a really slow read I was expecting so much more reading the summary about the book caught my attention instantly however I believe it was a little misleading as exciting as it was the book was not even half as exciting not impressed with the writing at all
I think that all young girls should read this book. This book will give motivation and inspiration to young girls who think that they stuck. It also shows that hard work and dedication can overcome any obstacle.
When I first started flipping the pages of this book, I was not prepared for the message it was going to project. This is a must read for all, especially the teenager who's misguided by today's stereotypes. I absolutely enjoyed every inch of this novel. The truth is you can always rise above many obstacles and become successful, empowered and take your place in society....live the life you deserve
Well written and very vivid attention to details. A story that was positive and down right real. We all know the song but the story is inspirational. Through ups and downs, Brenda finally got out of her hood mentality that most of us have and d I'd something with her life. This was a great journey, join it and walk through the shoes of a thirteen year pregnant with a baby.

This was a really good book. Brenda was the average girl from the hood who is too grown for their own good til you get a slap in the face and is forced to grow up over night. Looking for love in the wrong place from a pedophile drug dealer and getting pregnant her world is turned up side down. She finally gets on the right track thanks to mentors such as Sandra. She because the smartest girl in school with the highest IQ. She made something of herself and because more than just a black teenage mother from the hood. Great read.
